Trent Reznor has sent Nine Inch Nails fans into a spin after revealing details of a brand new album produced by Timbaland, which was said to feature mega-star guests like Chris Martin, Bono, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Fergie, Justin Timberlake and Sheryl Crow. It only took one look at the date – April 1st – to work out he was taking the piss, but it didn’t stop more than a few of his hardened followers from thinking he’d quietly lost his mind.
Reznor announced the bogus album, titled Strobe Light, was available immediately, but the cover itself was enough to give the game away. It had Trent sporting a black leather jacket and a pair of iconic – Å“slotted shade’ sunglasses, similar to those made famous by Kanye West. The revelation also came complete with the album’s tracklisting, which elicited more than a few laughs, with the song Pussygrinder (featuring Sheryl Crow, no less) perhaps the most intriguing.
Having made an attack of ex Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell recently for his Timbaland produced album Scream, it doesn’t take a genius to see who Reznor was attempting to humiliate. Whatever the motivation, we’d be pretty intrigued to hear the track from Fergie and Al Jourgensen (frontman of legendary industrial band Ministry ) Laid, Paid and Played.
