The Stone Roses reunionrumours put to bed

John Squire put rumors of a possible The Stone Roses reunion to bed by voicing his opinion loud and clear.

“I will never play with The Stone Roses again,” Squire told BBC Newsnight yesterday. “I’d rather live my life than attempt to rehash it. It would be pointless. I find art far more challenging and rewarding.” The guitarist then confessed he and frontman Ian Brown have not spoken since Squire left The Stone Roses in 1996.

When asked where the pervasive rumour came from, Squire responded: “There are usually rumours flying around, but this one was particularly virile so I decided to post an image on my website to lay it to rest, and hopefully it will work.”

Squire posted an image of his recently created sculpture Statement which reads, “I have no desire whatsoever to desecrate the grave of seminal Manchester pop group The Stone Roses, 12.3.09.” An image of the sculpture is posted below.

A summer reunion tour for The Stone Roses never looked probable – Squire is set to host his largest art exhibition yet this summer. The show, starting July 5 at the Gallery Oldham, would definitely conflict with any prospective tour.
