The Roots and Public Enemyunite
Mon 16th Mar, 2009 in International News
There’s nothing like the line-up for The Roots curated Roots Picnic to make you rue your Australian-ness. The two-year-old get-together at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia has some fine acts in the bag for 2009.
Taking a break from their house band duties on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, The Roots will play the opening and closing sets on the day. Doubly exciting is the announcement that ?uestlove and co. will serve as Public Enemy’s backing band for a run-through of the entire It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back album.
They’ve also enticed TV On The Radio, The Black Keys, Santigold, The Pipes and Jazzy Jeff to join in the festivities. If you just happen to be in Philly at the time, keep Saturday 6 June free.
