Woodstock likely to return
Wed 4th Mar, 2009 in International News
Putting aside those uncomfortable memories of the hellish Woodstock ‘99, organisers of the legendary festival are said to be bringing it back this year. 2009 marks the 40th anniversary of the original – œpeace, love and no Limp Bizkit’ Woodstock. TheRockRadio.com reports the event may be resurrected in August with a pair of free two-day concerts in New York and Berlin.
There are also rumours (ton of salt, please) that some of the original 1969 line-up will return – including The Who, Santana, The Grateful Dead and others. As long as they keep Woodstock ‘99 alumni Insane Clown Posse and Creed away, it might be in with a chance of being great.
A press release from festival co-founder Michael Lang states the New York event will take place on 15-16 August (the exact anniversary), while Berlin’s happens at an abandoned airport on 22-23 August. However, Lang has told Rolling Stone USA, “We’re exploring several options. But nothing is confirmed.”
