Faith No More speak on reunion
Fri 27th Feb, 2009 in International News
Earlier this week, the FasterLouder community rejoiced at news that Faith No More would be reuniting for a tour. While the announcement was made by the band’s publicist, fans have been hanging out for word from the main man himself, Mike Patton. Now FNM has issued a joint statement confirming the group’s line-up for the upcoming shows. Devastatingly, though, they also stressed it’ll be a European tour only.
The 2009 version of Faith No More will pick up where they left off with 1997’s Album Of The Year. That means no Jim Martin sadly, but Billy Gould (bass), Mike Bordin (drums), Jon Hudson (guitar), Roddy Bottum (keys) and Patton out front.
The statement reads: “Faith No More has always stood out as some sort of unique beast; part dog, part cat — its music almost as schizophrenic as the personalities of its members. When it all worked, it worked really well, even if the chemistry was always volatile…
“Throughout our 17 years of existence, the mental and physical energy required to sustain this creature was considerable and relentless. Though amicable enough, when we finally split, we all followed paths seemingly destined to opposite ends of the universe…We can only hope that the experience of playing together again will yield results erratic and unpredictable enough to live up to the legacy of FNM.”
The full statement is worth a read, and can be found HERE. The final line at least gives a glimmer of hope for a future encounter with our teenage idols. “Who knows where this will end or what it will bring up… only the future knows. But we are about to find out!”
