Sort of like Soundwave but bigger, the heavy-hitting Download Festival returns this June. Established in 2003, the three-day camping fest is England’s biggest gathering of black band shirts and sweaty armpits. It’s not the kind of event you go to for chai temples and remedial massage.
Heading the bill in 2009 are mayhem-makers Slipknot, with other big names like Mötley Crüe and KoRn. Fresh from courting controversy on the Big Day Out tour, The Prodigy will make the rock kids rave, along with drum – œn metal lads Pendulum. Rounding out the first line-up is Dragonforce and Devildriver, with the promise of plenty more to come.
Feel like a non-relaxing holiday after the Soundwave comedown? This may be just the ticket. Download Festival happens at Donington Park in the UK from 12-14 June.
