Like me, you were upset at missing the Coachella Festival in 2004. Sure, the Big Day Out, Homebake, The Falls and Meredith are fun, but the chance to see Radiohead, The Pixies, Kraftwerk, The Cure, The Flaming Lips, Wilco, Stereolab and loads more over a two-day period was to you, like it was to me, extremely upsetting.
Well, it doesn’t get any easier. The lineup for Coachella 2005 has been announced and it’s a cracker.
Saturday April 30th will see Coldplay, Weezer (being Weezer’s first gig since supporting Guns’n’Roses in the UK in August 2002), Bauhaus, The Chemical Brothers, Doves, Snow Patrol, Mercury Rev, Razorlight, Bloc Party and Fantomas, amongst others, take to the stage.
The following day, Sunday May 1, will include sets from Nine Inch Nails, New Order, Gang Of Four, Bright Eyes, Roni Size, Junkie XL, The Dresden Dolls, Stereophonics and a reformed Cocteau Twins to name but a few.
“Wow!”, you say, excitedly. “Tell me more!” And who am I to say no? The Coachella Festival will be held in Indio, California. If you can afford flights over to America – firstly, can you bootleg Weezer’s set for me? – 2-day passes retail for US$150, or a single day pass will set you back US$80.
