Boasting 32 exclusive tracks from some of the finest artists going round, Dark Was The Night is one charity compilation not bound for the bargain bin. The collection is overseen by Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National, with all proceeds going towards fighting HIV/AIDS. Its release is set for 17 February worldwide through 4AD, and can be purchased as a triple-vinyl (an enticing option given the guest-list).
As you can see below, Dark Was The Night will be a sweet serenade for anyone who grimaced through Do They Know It’s Christmas? Yeasayer, Feist, Arcade Fire, My Morning Jacket, Iron & Wine – it’s like the best-ever Laneway Festival line-up in CD form. And all for a good cause too.
