Having atoned for St. Anger with the barnstorming success of Death Magnetic, Metallica will be inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame this year. As previously reported on FL, the nominees list included The Stooges, but they missed the nod. The other 2009 Hall of Famers are hip hop veterans Run DMC, guitar great Jeff Beck, soul crooner Bobby Womack and – œ50s group Little Anthony and the Imperials. The ceremony happens at Cleveland’s Public Hall in April.

“I’m not going to give a whole schpeel about ‘come back in 20 years or something,’ ” Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich told media after hearing the news. “I’ll fucking take it right now. I’m fucking psyched that anybody still gives a shit about this band.”
