Always a man to move with the times, Neil Young has directed his prodigious pen to the economic crisis and other contemporary ills. Dull as it may sound, he’s spinning the gloomy forecast into songwriting gold.

The incoming Big Day Out headliner has posted a new song, Fork In The Road, on his website – complete with a DIY music video. According to Rolling Stone, it’s just one of many ditties Young has written throughout his 2008/09 world tour. He’s apparently been playing up to 10 of his new ones in each show; something that’s unlikely to happen at BDO.

Taking the lead role in the Fork In The Road video, the troubadour plugs some earphones into an apple (of course) and lets rip. The lyrics, consequently, are very funny indeed. Check it out below, or if you can’t see it head HERE.
