Set to land on our shores in a matter of weeks for Big Day Out, My Morning Jacket will still be buzzing from a legendary New Year’s Eve show at Madison Square Garden. Over 13,000 revellers filled the iconic New York venue for a rocking welcome to 2009. Caught up in the jubilant mood, MMJ ended up playing a hefty three-and-a-half-hour set spanning much of its career.

Billboard blog Jaded Insider reported, “The group was up for the occasion and then some, offering choice covers, guest appearances, a variety of stylish outfits and plenty of theatrics to keep the crowd entertained.” This augers very well indeed for Big Day Out – despite the band playing more conservative one-hour slots.
