Arcade Fire make a movie

Holiday viewing doesn’t come any more enticing than a film from Big Day Out heroes Arcade Fire. The collective has digitally released the Miroir Noir DVD, which pulls together footage from the making of Neon Bible and its subsequent tour. While it’s now available for download, Miroir Noir is reportedly set for a physical release in March. In a recent chat with Pitchfork, Arcade Fire mouthpiece Win Butler revealed his band is looking forward to a busy 2009.

“I think our goal this year was to take enough time off that we would actually start playing together again because we were really dying to play together again,” Butler told the website. “It’s been pretty cool, the past couple months, the guys have been coming over to me and Régine’s [Chassagne] place. We have instruments in the living room, and we’re just playing. It’s a really exciting time.”

In the interview (read it HERE ), Butler concedes Miroir Noir doesn’t fit the mould of your average band DVD. The live performances aren’t presented in full; instead, they’re cut up and arranged in a non-linear way. “There’s just a communal, visceral thing that never translates very well [to a live DVD],” Butler said. “We were just trying to pick some bits of the live show.”
