Blur to "rehearse" togetheragain
Wed 26th Nov, 2008 in International News
Having dropped many hints in the past, Damon Albarn has now announced his former band Blur will be heading into rehearsals again. The former frontman dropped the news before a performance of his opera Monkey: Journey To The West at London’s BBC Radio Theatre. Intriguingly for longtime fans, guitarist Graham Coxon will also partake in the rehearsals.
As reported by NME.com, the evening’s host Janice Long asked Albarn if Blur will play any shows in 2009. “Blur are certainly going to rehearse and see if we’re into it,” he offered. Not overly promising, but better than nothing. Maybe the presence of Coxon, who played a formative part in Blur’s first six albums, will get Albarn “into it”?
If you’re curious, Monkey: Journey To The West is a collaboration between Albarn, his Gorillaz sidekick Jamie Hewlett and Chinese visionary Chen Shi-zheng. According to the production’s website, it “brings together traditional disciplines – acrobatics, singing, dancing – with emphatically modern technology including animation and dazzling video projection.” Sounds a bit more impressive than the Gorillaz Sound System?
