Orbital gets back together
Mon 24th Nov, 2008 in International News
Having soundtracked many a hazy morning throughout the 1990s, Orbital called it quits in 2004. Now brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll are reviving their seminal electronica act to headline the Big Chill Festival in England next August. Since their last hurrah at Glastonbury four years ago, the siblings have pursued solo careers – but the Orbital chapter was not closed.
“It’s not an exercise in nostalgia, the time just seems right. Everything just seemed to fall into place,” Phil Hartnoll said in a statement. “We’ve got 15 years of active service, making song. If you boil that down to a 90-minute festival set you should get something thoroughly exciting from beginning to end. Let’s put some fun back into it.” The Big Chill set will be billed as – œOrbital: 20 years after Chime ’, a reference to the duo’s breakout track from 1989.
