Facing a fine for playing rap music too loudly, Ohio resident Andrew Vactor was handed down an ultimatum by the court judge last week. He could either cop the US$150 fine on the chin, or listen to classical music for 20 hours and shell out only $35.
Champaign County Municipal Court Judge Susan Fornof-Lippencott (got that?) claimed it wasn’t an attempt to wean the young’un off the hippity-hop, but a lesson in why you shouldn’t subject people to your racket. “I think a lot of people don’t like to be forced to listen to music,” she told the Associated Press.
Vactor agreed to the onslaught of Bach, Beethoven and Chopin, but had to bow out after 15 minutes. “I didn’t have the time to deal with that,” he told media. “I just decided to pay the fine.” Next time, Vactor.
