Elder statesmen of synth-rock Depeche Mode have announced plans for a worldwide ‘Tour Of The Universe 2009’. Kicking off in Israel on 10 May, the band plans to visit 28 cities across 22 countries – and we’re hoping Australia is on that itinerary. It may be a stretch though, given the UK is only getting one show, at London’s multi-million dollar complex 02 Arena.
A new Depeche Mode album is due in April 2009, their first since 2005’s Playing The Angel. That record spawned a lucrative world tour in 2006, selling 1.8 million tickets for 87 shows. We didn’t get a look-in that time, but you don’t use a title like ‘Tour Of The Universe 2009’ without stirring some excitement…
