Colbert Report Christmas amusical affair

Gather round patriots, because America’s number one news source is inviting some star guests to his Christmas table this year. Pitchfork reports Comedy Central straight-shooter Stephen Colbert has called on the likes of Feist and Elvis Costello to bring some yuletide cheer to the hour-long special A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift Of All. The episode will debut on Comedy Central on 23 November (at least in the US), with a DVD release following soon after.

The “musical comedy special” will feature sing-a-longs of Christmas standards from Colbert and his friends. And we doubt they’ll stick that closely to the originals. The press spiel promises: “In the special, Colbert is on his way to meet with Elvis Costello in New York City but is snowed-in at his cabin in upstate New York (bear country). He weathers through the storm with help from his friends Feist, Toby Keith, John Legend, Willie Nelson and Jon Stewart.”
