Richard Wright, co-founding member and keyboard player for Pink Floyd, has died aged 65 after a “short struggle” with cancer. Wright appeared on the first Pink Floyd album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn in 1967, and had been a stalwart presence right through the band’s career.
Dave Gilmour, who joined the group in 1968, has delivered a message on the Pink Floyd website commemorating his friend. “He was such a lovely, gentle, genuine man and will be missed terribly by so many who loved him. And that’s a lot of people. Did he not get the loudest, longest round of applause at the end of every show in 2006?”
