Chemical Brothers to work withMGMT
Wed 10th Sep, 2008 in International News
It’s been revealed that pioneering electronica duo the Chemical Brothers recently reached out to MGMT – arguably 2008’s hottest new band – with the offer of a collaboration after hearing their breakthrough debut album Oracular Spectacular. They’ve been swapping ideas ever since, and MGMT have now come clean to NME, revealing early details of the pairing.
“We’ll experiment with them to create a different sound. It won’t be dance music,” MGMT’s Ben Goldwasser told the magazine. “They’ve collaborated with people like Noel Gallagher before and they have this psychedelic side to them, so we’ll find a common ground.”
MGMT also said they’ve got plans in place for the second album. “We thought we’d go for the cliched, overly ambitious sophomore album,” Andrew Van Wyngarden revealed. ” Oracular Spectacular has both pop songs and psychedelic songs, so we thought we’d make a double album next – with one disc for pop and the other for psychedelia.”
