Oasis’s set at the Virgin Festival in Toronto on Monday night was disrupted by a stage invasion – and subsequent attack of Noel Gallagher – by loopy audience member Daniel Sullivan. Initial giggles aside, a statement from the band’s management doesn’t exactly make light of the situation, and understandably so.

“Oasis’ Noel Gallagher was attacked by an unidentified man during the band’s show in Toronto last night,” reads the statement. “While Noel and the band were performing Morning Glory, the assailant ran on from the back of the stage and pushed Noel from behind, who fell heavily on to his monitor speakers.

“Despite his injuries, Noel returned to the stage a few minutes later to complete the band’s set but was taken to hospital after the show to be examined for a suspected fractured rib and ligament damage. The assailant was detained in police custody and will be charged with assault.”

Not only did he interrupt the band’s classic tune, but Sullivan also disrailed a potential guest appearance by Paul Weller. NME reports the former Jam frontman was set to join Oasis for a rendition of Champagne Supernova, but was upstaged by the bum-rusher.

Surprise, surprise, someone was filming when it happened. Go on, have a look.
