Hip hop fans prepare to weep. On Sunday the Rock The Bells touring festival touched down at Jones Beach, Long Island – bringing with it surprise appearances from Jay-Z, Talib Kweli, Busta Rhymes and more. It wasn’t as if the line-up needed added star power. Among the headliners were the reunited Tribe Called Quest and Pharcyde, Bill O’ Reilly’s best mate Nas, De La Soul, Method Man and Redman, Immortal Technique and a whole host more.

Jay-Z appeared from the wings to join Nas on Black Republican and his own Success, prompting (we imagine) much frantic waving of camera phones. Not to be outdone, A Tribe Called Quest brought out Busta Rhymes on cue to help them through Scenario. Then there was Talib Kweli buddying up with Mos Def for a Black Star reunion, Pharaohe Monch helping out Immortal Technique, and Method Man and Redman conjuring a revolving door of guests including DJ Kool, Slick Rick, EPMD and Keith Murray. Not your usual Sunday, then.
