Masters of melodrama My Chemical Romance may not be everyone’s first choice to cover Bob Dylan, but that’s exactly what they’ll be doing on the soundtrack to the feverishly-anticipated Watchmen movie. Watchmen, due for a 2009 release, is an audacious adaptation of Alan Moore’s graphic novel. Director Zach Snyder (he of 300 fame/blame) is attempting to be just as bold with his musical choices as he is with the onscreen action. Who you gonna call?
”[My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way] is a super-great guy, and an awesome musician, and so we’re trying to work with them right now to put together a song for the end titles,” Snyder revealed to MTV. That song, it seems, will come from Dylan’s oeuvre. “A cover of Desolation Row, or something like that,” confirmed the director. “I’ve talked with [Way] and I’ve heard a little bit of some [Dylan] stuff that’s he’s done, and it’s pretty freaking cool.”
Way to make a headline Snyder; very savvy…
And here’s the Watchmen trailer, featuring music by another bunch of angsty Americans.
