Amy Winehouse’s return to live music happened over the weekend at Glastonbury, and was not without its share of controversy. While performing her single Rehab in the photographers’ pit, a member of the audience grabs at Winehouse’s hair, promoting her to lash out and start throwing punches.
Video on the BBC website shows Winehouse throwing punches before being led away from the crowd by security. Her hour-long set included a cover of The Specials’ A Message To You Rudy, but featured some bizarre ranting on her incarcerated husband Blake Fielder-Civil and hip-hop artists Jay-Z and Kanye West.
When Winehouse’s mention of Fielder-Civil drew a small amount of booing from the crowd, she piped back, “Who booed? I’ll find you, take your phone, ring your mum and tell her about your bad manners.” Later in the set, she brought up festival headliner Jay-Z. “Let’s hear it for Jay-Z. The man has got bollocks to come here, and play the tunes you don’t even know you remember. Imagine if it was a cunt like Kanye West. ‘Cunts like Kanye’ – that should be his next album title.”
And here’s the video of Ms Winehouse climbing into the pit for Me and Mr Jones and Rehab. Judge for yourself.
