After serving 29 days of his 14-week jail sentence, the man who puts the shambles in Babyshambles is free. Pete Doherty bid farewell to his digs at London’s Wormwood Scrubs prison with the revelation, “I’ve walked out and I don’t feel like I want to score.”

The media scrum waiting on the outside even traded a bit of witty banter from Doherty. Was it tough? “Well, I knew it was going to be a bit rough to start with – with the overcrowding and the medical facilities. Although they do their best – they are good, they can’t really cater for the average junkie.” What was the worst? “Gangsters and Radio 4, basically.” (Thanks to NME for that frontline report.)

The loose unit’s early release means he’ll be able to uphold his date with Glastonbury, plus a handful of Babyshambles shows. Inevitably, Doherty kept a prison diary. After The Books Of Albion: The Collected Writings of Peter Doherty, we just know you’ve been crying out for a sequel.
