Coldplay named sleep kings

A UK survey on sleeping habits conducted by Travelodge has found Coldplay is the band most likely to induce slumber. The study was drawn from the responses of 2,248 British adults, who named their favourite music and book to curl up in bed with.
The survey’s next four favourite catalysts for a good night’s rest are James Blunt, Snow Patrol, Take That and Norah Jones. As for books, those Poms keep it decidedly low-brow; with tabloid play-thing Jordan’s autobiography topping the pillow-reading list. The autobiographies of David Beckham, Jodie Marsh and Sharon Osbourne were also identified as prime bed-time fodder. Reading David Beckham while listening to Take That? Blissful, right?
Leigh McCarron of Travelodge concludes: “The research shows that we are increasingly relying on slow, sleepy music and unchallenging books to take our minds off the pressures of modern living, to help us switch off and get to sleep at night. Coldplay and Jordan seem to hit just the right spot among Britain’s insomniacs.”
Participants in the survey also identified what they think about at lights-out. According to the results, women generally run through the next day’s tasks, count their shoes, handbags, calories and even items on the shopping list (you crazy Brits). Men count their money, recall past sexual experiences, tally goals scored by their favourite football team and visualise “celebrity pin-ups”.
