A whole lot of angry youths in Mexico have mounted an offensive against – œemos’, attacking (presumably) anyone with a quiet disposition and fondness for black eyeliner.

According to the LA Weekly, the violent mobbing were incited by local TV anchor Kristoff, who branded emo “fucking bullshit” on-air. He’s now revoked the comment and called for a stop to the hostility, but to no avail. A fortnight ago, 800 rabble-rousers took to the streets in the city of Querataro to harass emos. Their targets responded with peaceful marches through the town centres of Querataro and Mexico City.

LA Weekly also reports the emo-bashers were predominantly “metal, punk and rockabilly fans”, who apparently don’t have the new My Chemical Romance DVD on pre-order.

Here’s Kristoff’s anti-emo rant. The only words in English, incidentally, are “fucking bullshit”.

what are the ones called who wear the fedora hats, neck scarfs [bandanna], skinny jeans [of every colour] and a tight striped shirt [in any colour] the hair cuts are still a little emo but they look different.

Are they still emo, or is the neck scarf [bandanna] setting them apart from the heard?
I know some electronic bands are pimping out the neck scarf [bandanna] but I'd like to know if that style has been labeled yet?

I honestly don't get the whole thing against emos. Get over it really. Let them do their thing, no one was asked to get involved. Or be violent against them. WTF..!
