As any good rumour monger knows, the line-up for Japan’s three-day Fuji Rock Festival is often a good forecast of what’s to come for our own Splendour In The Grass. The 2008 headliners have just been announced, so let the speculation begin!

The first round of Fuji acts is a diverse bunch: including Ian Brown, My Bloody Valentine, M!nk, The Go! Team, Underworld and Hard-Fi. Of that prestigious list, Ian Brown and The Go! Team seem unlikely, given their recent tours. However, the confirmation of English cult heroes My Bloody Valentine and moody rockers Hard-Fi are sure to get a few tongues wagging. That said, no amount of wishful thinking could get Iggy Pop & The Stooges to do the Fuji-Splendour double in 2007.

The Fuji Rock Festival is held at Naeba Ski Resort in Japan from 25 to 27 July. Here’s the first line-up announcement in full:

Blackmarket
Bootsy Collins Tribute To The Godfather Of Soul
Eastern Youth
Flower Travellin’ Band
The Go!Team
Hard- Fi
Ian Brown
M!Nk
My Bloody Valentine
Special Others
Underworld
