Sex Pistols re-group for EXITFestival

To prove we’ve truly entered the age of the reunion tour, The Sex Pistols will fire again at Serbia’s EXIT Festival this July.
Started nine years ago as a student protest against Serbia’s communist regime, EXIT has become the European festival to beat. Taking over a 17th Century fortress in Novi Sad, the three-day event boasts over 25 stages and over 600 performers.
In quite a coup for the organisers, Pistol-bearers Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, Glen Matlock and Paul Cook have been convinced to headline the main stage on day three. These four made up the band’s original line-up, before Matlock was replaced with the late Sid Vicious. Since combusting after the release of punk benchmark Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols, the band’s remaining members reunited in 1996 to celebrate their 20th anniversary. “We have found a common cause, and it’s your money,” Rotten reportedly told media at the time. Since then, they’ve played a handful of live gigs, but EXIT will be up there with the biggest.
“We might not pull together an album but hopefully there will be some new stuff in time for the summer,” Paul Cook promises.
Also on the festival’s first round announcement are The Hives, Ministry, Paul Weller, Nightwish and Gorgol Bordello. If this sounds like your kind of holiday, pencil 10 to 13 July into your diary.
