Former Korn lead guitarist Brian “Head” Welch has announced his first solo show since leaving the Nu Metal group in February 2005 to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Head will join an impressive line up at the 2008 Cornerstone Festival in the United States, playing alongside the likes of As I Lay Dying, Demon Hunter, Still Remains, Haste the Day, Flyleaf, The Chariot, Inale/Exhale, Anberlin, Skillet and many others over the four day festival in June/July.

Head’s only other live appearance since leaving Korn was the performance of Letter To Dimebag at the Valley Bible Fellowship, a tribute to the late “Dimebag” Darrell, which has become somewhat of a hit on YouTube. Besides that, Head has been causing a bit of a media storm in the US, testifying on CNN, MTV and Fox News and also promoting his New York Times best-selling autobiography Save Me From Myself in several-instore book-signings accross America.

Head’s debut solo album It’s Time To See Religion Die is still pending release and features Vandals/A Perfect Circle/Nine Inch Nails/Devo drummer Josh Freese and Mr Bungle/Fantomas/Matisyahu bassist Trevor Dunn. According to Welch, the album has “nearly completed mixing stages,” and is “waiting on God” to provide the right time to release the album. In 2005 several demos surfaced on the internet featuring a electronic/industrial sound, but according to recent TV interviews, Head claims the album has a very different direction to the demos, instead reminiscent of early Korn albums and according to bassist Dunn, contains “a serious wall of guitars.”

No other tour dates have been announced as yet. Stay tuned to FasterLouder for updates.
