In the first of a series of iTunes live concerts promoting “unlikely collaborations”, cabaret icon Tony Christie is set to share a stage with ex- Moloko frontwoman Róisín Murphy.
The digital music company is presenting the series of concerts over 11 nights at Sir George Martin’s Air Studios in London. Other double bills include Billy Bragg with KT Tunstall and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds with English psych-rockers Spiritualized. There are less well-known names, too, like the team-up between folk up ‘n comer Laura Marling and indie darlings Mystery Jets.
For the many of us who don’t reside in London, downloadable recordings of each night will be made available. The results could be interesting.
