Rock star progeny Frances Bean Cobain has told Harper’s Bazaar (and no doubt the scribes of many a creepy fan letter), “I’m not my parents.”
In the rare interview, Cobain spoke of wanting to distance herself from the reputation of her folks. “If you’re a big Nirvana fan or a big Hole fan then I understand why you would want to get to know me, but I’m not my parents,” she said. “These people are fascinated by me, but I haven’t done anything. I get it, I really do, but at the same time it’s creepy.”
Expressing an interest in journalism and photography, Cobain concluded, “People need to wait until I’ve done something valid with my life.”
The teen posed in a variety of high-concept scenes for the magazine, each recalling a famous musical.
“Frances grew up on musicals. I think musicals comfort her,” Mom Courtney Love told Harper’s. “She’s a gay man trapped in a woman’s body, like me.”
