Sam Riley, the relatively green actor who channeled Joy Division’s Ian Curtis for the brilliant biopic Control, has picked up the Rising Star Award at this year’s Richard Attenborough Film Awards.

Despite his newcomer status, Riley previously portrayed The Fall frontman Mark E Smith in Michael Winterbottom’s equally great 24 Hour Party People. Maybe a career in rock god roles beckons?

Check out this interview with Sam Riley on the press rounds for Control.
