Sparkadia are set to embark upon a huge tour of Europe and the UK with American stars Jimmy Eat World. The 21-date tour precedes the release of their debut album Postcards on May 31 through Ivy League Records.
The Sydney four-piece write modern pop songs that combine the dazzling melodies of mainman Alex Burnett with a cinematic, expensive production – grown from a diet of Scott Walker, Lee Hazelwood and Burt Bacharach.
Their singles – œMorning Light’ and – œAnimals’ have become radio favourites, while Sparkadia’s live shows highlight their talent for combining the energy and precision of band favourites The Pretenders and Doves, with hints of Echo And The Bunnymen and Prefab Sprout.
Sparkadia’s eagerly anticipated debut album Postcards was recorded at London’s Miloco Studios with producer Ben Hillier ( Blur, Depeche Mode, The Horrors ) at the helm, and will be released by Ark Recordings in the UK, where they’re already creating a huge buzz.
– œAnimals’, the band’s current digital single in Australia, is being spun on Radio 1 by influential DJs Colin Murray and Zane Lowe.
