Stone Temple Pilots to re-form

2008 may well be the year of the reunion tour, with confirmation that American rockers Stone Temple Pilots are getting back together.

The reunion has been rumoured for some time now, with singer Scott Weiland making it official at a recent solo gig in Florida. Since Stone Temple Pilots disbanded in 2003, Weiland has been busying himself in super-group Velvet Revolver. Another member of that rock star love-in, Slash, echoed the news of STP’s revival in an interview with Billboard.com.

Weiland and his once-again-bandmates will be playing a summer reunion tour in the US.

Goodbye Velvet Revolver. This sounds like the same thing that happened to Audioslave, album bombs, so they go back to where they know they can sell tours.

Gives creedence to the reunion of Guns n Roses also says me...

Sweet, never got to see them, the DeLeo bros were attached with Richard Patrick in "Army Of One" so i guess they are scrapped too.

Yeah too early. I'm seeing VR next month. Keen for the STP and GNR covers, not much else.

Really happy with this news. STP are/were great. Keen for reformed Alice In Chains to tour here too.

Velvet Revolvers first album was good, the second just lacked the epic that both Gunners and STP seemed to be able to create.
The concert will be good though, you can't deny that every guy on that stage is a seasoned entertainer.

i'm still in love with that 3hr DVD that accompanied the best of they released upon disbanding.

I watched the unlpugged mtv thing they did earlier in their career, Scott almost looks like he is overweight! and then I watched the slither filmclip and was stunned by the difference a few years makes!

I bought tickets to the San Francisco show today, to go with my San Diego Freebies. Ticket pricing in the U.S is brilliant and I am loving that the Aussie Dollar manages to not get it's ass kicked anymore. Two tickets cost me $114 aussie. I bet if and when STP tour here, it will be like 80 bucks each at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
Bring on July and Lollapalooza, the wait is gonna kill me.

Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland, who has a history of drug-related problems, was sentenced Monday to eight days in jail for driving under the influence of drugs a second time.

Weiland, 40, was arrested in November last year after his car crashed on a Los Angeles freeway.

He was arrested after refusing to take a sobriety test and was charged last month.

He pleaded no contest to the charge today (the equivalent to pleading guilty in the US). Due to his previous conviction for a similar offence in 2004, he was sentenced to eight days in prison, put on four-year probation and ordered to spend 18 months in rehab.

Earlier this month, Weiland was axed from the rock band Velvet Revolver, which complained about his "increasingly erratic on-stage behaviour and personal problems."

Since then, Weiland has reunited with the band that made him a rock star, the Stone Temple Pilots, which emerged as a powerhouse in the 1990s with hits such as Sex Type Thing, Plush and Interstate Love Song.
