Australia-bound stadium rockers Bon Jovi are said to have followed Van Halen down a dubious path: ‘scalping’ tickets to their own shows.

TicketNews.com reported that within minutes of tickets going on sale to several Bon Jovi shows, extra tickets were posted on TicketMaster’s TicketExchange auction site. These tickets had not been made available to the public originally, but were now for sale at inflated prices.

According to TicketNews, “bands, promoters and venues are now routinely withholding blocks of premium tickets from fans, which they later resell at significantly higher prices through various means, such as StubHub!, fan sites, Ticketmaster or auction sites.”

Van Halen, Beyonce and Hank Williams Jnr. have also come under fire in the past for similarly underhand tactics. So if you see tickets for sale on eBay under the username JonBonJovi, be wary…
