Joe Trohman, guitarist for pop-punk stadium fillers Fall Out Boy, has come to the defense of Ashlee Simpson following tabloid claims she was “breaking up the band, man.”

The ever-blonder Simpson is the girlfriend of Fall Out Boy-about-town Pete Wentz. After the group failed to pick up a Grammy nomination, OK! Magazine found one of their trustworthy “sources” to dish a bit of dirt.

“Grammy voters are fed up with Ashlee after she was caught lip-synching,” says the band’s ‘pal’. “Her relationship with Pete has definitely affected public opinion of the band.

“The guys in FOB are furious — they think everything Ashlee touches is poison, and they really want her to stop touching Pete!”

Responding on a blog, Trohman has claimed he has no issue with Ashlee touching them. Or Pete.

“We also don’t blame a certain someone for our lack of a Grammy nod,” he wrote. “That’s absolutely fucking absurd. This ‘poisonous’ person that was mentioned is nothing short of awesome, and we fully back her.”

Well if he isn’t going to say anything controversial, we’ll just have to content ourselves with re-watching the Ashlee Simpson lip-synching fiasco. Lucky it’s still funny.
