If you’ve got a ticket to see The Police on their Australian dates early next year, consider yourself a part of history. The band’s global reunion tour has been the most lucrative of 2007, already amassing $212 million.
According to Billboard.com’s Boxscore, more than 1.8 million tickets have been sold worldwide – and that was before 13 November. When you add the Australian leg, that figure is sure to balloon. The second most profitable outing of ‘07 was Genesis’ Turn It On Again stadium tour, which grossed a cool $129 million. Third in line was Justin Timberlake with the FutureSex LoveShow, which Australia also helped reach $126.8 million.
The other top tour earners for 2007 include Rod Stewart (woo!), Christina Aguilera, Kenny Chesney and the ever-dependable Cirque Du Soleil.
