Shoegaze icons My Bloody Valentine will return to the live scene in 2008 with gigs planned in England and Scotland.

The Irish band will reunite for shows in London, Manchester and Glasgow in June and July, and are allegedly in talks to headline Californian festival Coachella earlier in the year.

Fronted by musical mastermind Kevin Shields, MBV’s two full-length albums fused together a plethora of guitar effects and defined the shoegaze sound. 1991’s Loveless, their last LP release, is still regarded by the critics as one of the most important albums of the past 20 years and placed second in Pitchfork Media’s top 100 albums of the 1990s – only losing to Radiohead’s OK Computer. Since Loveless, Shields has kept himself busy collaborating with the likes of Primal Scream and Dinosaur Jr.

The band also has plans to release their third album later this year. While details are sill to be confirmed, Shields told Billboard.com the new album would see the light of day before 2007 was out.
