Clearly, Avenged Sevenfold have thrown away the rulebook. By applying soaring, punk-pop harmonies to raging power metal licks, they defined a multi-faceted aesthetic on their 2002 debut full-length album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. On Sounding The Seventh Trumpet, Avenged Sevenfold showed that they had developed a very unique style that combined the best of metal, punk, hardcore and glam rock.

A year later, Avenged Sevenfold released the milestone of their career, Waking The Fallen, shattering all preconceptions of punk and metal. The album highlights punks loud-fast rules for extended songs that go well past the two-minute punk song, the three-minute rock song and the six to seven minute opus. Punk rock with melody, metal’s white-knuckles intensity and powerful wails combined with unflinching lyrics, and an adventurous and epic spirit make the band stand truly alone.

The twelve songs found on Waking The Fallen include the blistering – œDesecrate Through Reverence’, the melodic punk metal anthem – œSecond Heartbeat’ and the two-part, 14-minute epic, – œI Won’t See You Tonight’.
