Cat Power (aka Chan Marshall) will be playing cover singer once more when she releases her new album, Jukebox on January 19. the album will feature Power’s unique spin on songs originally recorded by the likes of Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell.
Jukebox is the second Cat Power album to consist of Chan’s interpretations of the work of other artists. ‘According to Marshall the album marks a tribute to the great vocalists who have influenced her music over the years.
The album is produced by Chan’s longtime collaborator Stuart Sikes and was recorded with her touring band ‘The Dirty Delta Blues Band’ [consisting of drummer Jim White from the Dirty Three, guitarist Judah Bauer of the Blues Explosion, keyboardist Gregg Foreman who has also worked with the Blues Explosion, and bassist Erik Paparazzi.
Like the previous cover album Jukebox features special guest artists; this time around Spooner Oldham , Larry McDonald and Matt Sweeney step up to the plate.
The CD will be release in two versions: ad eluxe silver-foil gatefold cover [on both LP and CD] with bonus disc containing extra tracks as below and a regular jewelcase version [CD only]
