More metal mish mash
Sun 4th Nov, 2007 in International News
Metal has dominated both local and international news this week. There are loads of announcements so here’s a few more to get you going.
Drowning Pool have released their clip to ‘Enemy’ from their new album Full Circle. You can check it out here.
Agnostic Front are also churning out the visual goods, with the release of their video for ‘Warriors’. It shows the lads in fine form and still undeniably loyal to the NYHC cause.
Helloween are now in the process of filming a new video clip in Munich. If you’re keen, you can head to SPV’s website for an interview with the band about their new album Gambling with the Devil.
On the touring side of business, Cephalic Carnage hit our shows in a matter of days supporting The Black Dahlia Murder. Check these dates into your calendars if you haven’t already yet. But who am I kidding?!
November 6 – Amplifier, Perth
November 8 – The Corner Hotel, Melbourne
November 10 – The Arena, Brisbane
November 11 – Gaelic Club, Sydney
Perth’s heavy melodic wizards Voyager hit the east coast for two shows only in support of their brand new record univers.
November 23 – Central Club, Melbourne (with Eyefear and Anarion)
November 24 – Bar Broadway, Sydney (with Eyefear, Darker Half and Sword Toward Self)
If photos of metal legends in studios are more your thing, then head to Testament’s myspace where they’ve posted pics of themselves during pre-production of their new album.
Germany’s Liquido have finished their new long-player which is scheduled to hit the street in early 2008. Think electronic and pop in a weird heavy guitar kind of way. Hmm…
Swedish thrash metallers Darkane have finally announced their new singer. Jens Broman comes into the fold from Construcdead and The Defaced. He’s even good mates with Björn Strid from Soilwork. Bonus!
If you need more excuses to burn your dosh, then Nuclear Blast are releasing double-DVD monster, 20 Years of Nuclear Blast, on November 19. Featuring the likes of Hammerfall, Nightwish and Blind Guardian, you’re sure to get some bang for your buck.
Tobias Sammet has emerged with Avantasia. After five years of silence, the Edguy mastermind decided to reanimate his very own project and record a follow up to Metal Opera Tobi released in 2001 (Part 1) and 2002 (Part 2). For some, this Metal Opera was the unofficial but worthy successor to Helloween’s Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part 1 and 2. Anyway, his new project, the album The Scarecrow, is out in a couple of weeks.
Gamma Ray is also a week or so away from dropping their follow-up to Land of the Free Part II. In even more epic proportions, black metal magnates Dark Funeral are releasing a double relentless audio and visual journey, all packed into two DVDs. Look out for the title Attera Orbis Terrarum Part 1. Gorgoroth are also jumping on board the release wagon, releasing their live offering from 1996. Recorded live in Bergen, Norway on May 23 1996, this classic recording was originally released as a 7” EP entitled The Last Tormentor and was limited to 666 copies. This EP has been a long sold out and sought after cult item. Now, it’s back, running riot in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!
