After promising to deliver a killer number as the opening artist for the MTV VMAs, Britney Spears instead delivered a lack lustre lip sync that earned her no new fans from the industry crowd.

Clad in a scanty black outfit, Spears ‘performed’ her comeback single Gimme More seeming to stumble across the stage in her black knee high boots and at times even forgetting her lyrics. Spears was also the target of comedian Sarah Silverman’s rapier wit, no doubt adding to the singer’s shame.

Commenting on Spears’ performance, Dave Grohl offered:
“You know those things that you put batteries in and they just vacuum the floor without anyone touching them? That’s what I think of Britney Spears.”

Ouch!
