Not for an biographical film unfortunately (although we can only dream). Instead, arguably the greatest filmmaker to ever emerge out of America will be releasing a concert documentary on the classic rockers, due in April next year. After using Gimme Shelter for the umpteenth time last year in his Academy Award winning film The Departed, we can only assume Scorsese decided it was time to give something back!

Originally set for release this September, the theatrical release of Shine a Light has been pushed back because distributor Paramount Classics needed more time to set up the promotional campaign, pointing out that the band is busy touring Europe until late August. The film, which takes its title from an old Rolling Stones gospel song, was shot during two performances at New York’s Beacon Theatre last year. Some of the guest performers on hand included blues veteran Buddy Guy, Jack White from the White Stripes as well as Christina Aguilera.

Sure the film looks semi exciting, but Fasterlouder reckons we should also get Martin Scorsese crackin’ on a biographical picture focusing on the heyday of the Stones during the 60’s and 70’s. Come one people, just think about that one for a moment…
