Sydney’s street press stalwart, Drum Media has been sold to ‘interests associated’ with brothers Craig and Leigh Treweek and Melbourne’s Inpress Magazine.
In 1990, both Margaret and Jennifer Cott established Drum Media from the ashes of Sydney’s seminal, independent music-orientated magazine, On The Street. The Cott sisters are, according to reports, delighted the publication will be in good hands with Inpress Magazine’s good stead, reputation and support within the music industry and community.
Craig Treweek commented about the sale, “This is a great opportunity to build a strong music media outlet that is supportive of the local music scene at a grass roots level. We look forward to continuing to support the Sydney music scene in the same way Margaret and Jenny have.”
“On a personal level” admitted Jennifer, “it’s been a fun working within the machinations of the music industry, and achieving a business success. Needless to say we will miss everything about Drum including the deadlines, but there are some very exciting and good times ahead for all involved, and yes, Marg and I will be taking a well deserved vacation before we look around for something else to sink our teeth into.”
