The Visitors were formed from the ashes of Radio Birdman, after their notorious British tour and breakup in 1978. Three of the original members of Radio Birdman, guitarist/songwriter Deniz Tek, drummer Ron Keeley and keyboardist Pip Hoyley joined forces with bassist Steve Harris and volatile frontman Mark Sisto to play a series of shows in and around Sydney. The shows were wild, fast and unpredictable, and the stuff of legend.
However, The Visitors only had one recording studio session, a single manic gathering that produced a limited amount of material, some of which was later released on vinyl as Visitation ‘79. The recording had a limited run and has long been out of print and unavailable.
Now, Citadel Records are proud to announce the entire collection of studio work from this legendary session is to be re-released. The new package will contain extensively detailed liner notes, and brand new exclusive artwork.
This re-release will coincide with a reformation of the Visitors for two shows only. Founding members Deniz Tek, Pip Hoyle and Mark Sisto will be joined by international skateboarding legends Art and Steve Godoy, on bass and drums respectively. The Godoy twins will take time out from their band The Exploding Fuck Dolls to make their first ever appearance in Australia.
The Visitors will be joined at the Gaelic Club show by The Survivors. The Survivors were a short lived, celebrated Brisbane band featuring Jim Dickson (Passengers, New Christs, Louis Tillet) on bass, local Brisbane retailer Greg Anton on drums and guitarist Greg Williams. Despite not having been together since 1978, the Survivors have agreed to reform for one show only, supporting the Visitors.
These two shows, taking place in Newcastle and Sydney, are sure to continue the legend that is the Visitors, and are not to be missed by any serious hardcore fan.
