The Smith Street Band releasealbum details, more exclusivefootage

The Smith Street Band have announced that their highly anticipated third album will be called Throw Me In The River and id due for release through Poison City Records on October 31.

The announcement is accompanied by a second exclusive video of the band’s time recording the LP. Premiered on FL today the behind-the-scenes footage captures the band’s sessions at a rented house in the tiny town of Forest in Victoria’s Otway Ranges, as well as a surprise solo show from frontman Wil Wagner performed at the local pub and a bonfire after party that followed. The gig was a way of saying thankyou to the town – which has a population of just 170 people – and an image of that night will feature as the official album artwork for Throw Me In The River. Watch the full clip below.

Of their decision to decamp to a place outside of the city, Wagner explains: “We wanted to record somewhere peaceful and natural so we rented a holiday house in a small town and locked ourselves away”. The band were joined in the Otway Ranges by producer Jeff Rosenstock from New York who plays in Smith Street favourites ‘The Arrogant Sons of Bitches’, ‘Bomb the Music Industry!’ and ‘Kudrow’. Wagner says Rosenstock “quickly felt like a fifth member of the band [and] brought a lot of orchestration and different ways of thinking about music to the table.” “Mighty engineer” Sam Johnson, who worked on their 2012 album Sunshine and Technology, also worked on the recording sessions.
