Brody Dalle releases newsingle feat. Shirley Mansonand Warpaint

Only one month before she returns to Australia to open for Queens of the Stone and Nine Inch Nails on their co-headline tour, Brody Dalle has released a brand new tune.

The lead single from her forthcoming solo record, ‘Meet The Foetus/Oh The Joy’ is the first we have heard from the former Distiller and Spinerette since 2010. The five-minute track has a Sleigh Bells-esq energy about it and features Dalle’s classic crunchy punk guitar sprinkled with some super catchy pop hooks. With (barely there) backing vocals from Garbage’s Shirley Manson and Warpaint’s Emily Kokal the song is set to form the centerpiece of her forthcoming record which, according to a press release, “is about creating life and was responsible for kicking the whole album process off again”.

Dalle’s last album was the eponymous debut of short-lived rock group Spinnerette, which she fronted from 2007- 2010 alongside Tony Bevilacqua, Alain Johannes and Jack Irons. While she hasn’t released any new music since then Dalle has spent the last year writing, recording and co-producing the new record – her first ever solo release – alongside Alain Johannes (Arctic Monkeys, Them Crooked Vultures). “I’ve always had a hand in crafting how it’s going to sound and hearing it and trying to make that happen. But it’s the first time I’ve put my name on something for production”, she says of the record.

Anyone know who we can expect in her backing band? Fingers crossed we get some Joey Castillo on the QOTSA/NIN tour.

maybe thats the thing about being with Brody Dalle - she always hires your ex-drummers.

She's such a firecracker.

Read that as "Shirley Temple and Warpaint" for a minute.

Read he was fired from QOTSA, but thought (and was hoping) he was still friends with Homme and co.
