There'll be no Coffs stopoveron the 2014 Warped tour

Following confirmation that Big Day Out won’t return to Perth, promoter AJ Maddah has sadly shelved another leg of one of his festivals.

Maddah says the attendance of just 1800 at the Coffs Harbour Warped Tour last November isn’t strong enough to justify a return. The festival, which took place at the Coffs Harbour Showground, featured performances from The Offspring, Parkway Drive, Simple Plan, Millencolin, and The Amity Affliction.

The return of Warped festival in 2014 is still a matter of speculation. But Maddah has revealed on Twitter that he’ll talk to “the boss” – Warped Tour founder and co-promoter of the Australian festival Kevin Lyman – in April about this year’s plans for the tour. In addition to Coffs Harbour the festival also made stops in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Adelaide.

As previously reported, Maddah confirmed that he won’t be presenting a Big Day Out festival in Perth next year. The future of the Adelaide event is also uncertain, but Maddah says he’s hopeful of its return. “Generally speaking, you lose money in Perth,” Maddah told triple j last week. “[But] I’m pretty confident that we’re going back to Adelaide. Obviously I can’t make the decision myself, I need to speak to my partners and go through the financials for this year, which are pretty bad.”

fair enough stop bdo in perth, it's been declining for years and despite aj saying that you lose money in perth- i know for a fact plenty of people were willing to fly to melbourne for warped (was cheaper than flying to adelaide and well it's adelaide!). why not try warped back in wa?
admittedly, soundwave is becoming somewhat more 'mainstream' but people are still going to go and are willing to pay the price! we need festivals like soundwave and warped to balance out the other (cough)music festivals(cough).

i'm really hoping aj doesn't pull the plug on soundwave in perth- it started here, it is the one thing we can claim to be ours. we get that it costs money but as along as we still get a wicked set together then we will come. i haven't missed a year since 2006 and i'd rather not have to spend an extra $350-ish on could be better spent on the day!

I hope there'll be no Coffs at all.

hi guys, don't mean to be disrespectful at all, just a comment however about the title of the article which suggests a confirmation of the warped tour 14 has already been announced, which it hasn't
as you have suggested warped is still being speculated so perhaps the title should be preceeded with "if warped goes ahead in 2014 then... there will be no coffs stopover.'

That doesn't roll off the tongue in quite the same way.

Yeah, thats not quite how you write titles, especially in the Internet age.

"Coffs Harbour Got Warped And Nobody Came - You Won't Believe What Happens Next!"
