Chet Faker has deleted hisdebut album, twice

Addressing the long wait for his debut record, Chet Faker (aka Nicholas Murphy) has told triple j’s Home and Hosed host Dom Alessio that perfectionism is to blame for the delay.

“Maybe I’ve overcooked it and thought about it too much,” Murphy revealed. “I thought it was finished and then I deleted everything and started again. I did that twice. I wrote like three albums for one album.” However Murphy has promised that we won’t have to wait too much longer for the album. “You can’t rush an art form,” he explained. “There’ll be new music out real soon. There’s a new single on the way.” According to a New Year’s Facebook post, the album will be released in ” early 2014”.

Chet Faker’s Thinking in Textures EP which was released back in March 2012 and featured the singles ‘Terms and Conditions’, ‘I’m Into You’, ‘Love and Feeling’ and his cover of the Blackstreet classic ‘No Diggity’. His releases since then include the single ‘Melt’ featuring Kilo Kish and Lockjaw, a three track collaboration with Flume.
