First band “confirmed” forSplendour in the Grass 2014

It may be seven months away still but the 2014 Splendour In The Grass lineup rumours are already in full swing, with London Grammar telling The Vine that they are a chance to play the festival next year.

Due in Australia for the first time this month to perform at Falls and Southbound festivals, the band’s guitarist Dan Rothman told The Vine they were in fact originally slated to play Splendour earlier this year, but couldn’t make it work. “We were supposed to play it this year but they couldn’t get us out there in time,” he revealed. “It wasn’t going to work, so I think it’s always been the plan to go back next year.”

London Grammar’s debut album, If You Wait, entered the ARIA Albums Chart at #2 when it was released in September. It features the singles ‘Metal & Dust’, ‘Wasting My Young Years’ and ‘Strong’. FL’s 8/10 review of the album noted that “Reid’s brilliance is undeniable and, at only 23 years of age, she has a vocal range that rightly puts her in a league with Florence Welch and Adele.”

Speaking with FL upon his album’s release Rotham discussed the trio’s surprise at becomg Youtube sensations with their first single ‘Hey Now’. When it went over a million views we were like, ‘That’s really cool.’ That was the song that did everything, it opened up all the doors. It was like the perfect calling card for us” he said.

London Grammar will be in Australia to play Falls and Southbound Festival over NYE and two intimate club dates in Sydney and Melbourne.
